SSMTC meeting tonight 7/27

Going over the results of the 55th LIMTT.
Nice job by Ken Olsen and Andrew Dean in putting together a great tournament.  It would have been even bigger and better had the weekends weather cooperated.  Their pick one of three days tourney did allow guys to take advantage of a nice day fishing on Friday.

Congrats to Joe Vitagliano on taking 1st place Tuna with a 100 lb bluefin.
Bob Tyree took 2nd place on Indian Run with a 72 lb bluefin.
Weasel took 3rd with a 71 lb bluefin.
High Hook went to Ken Olsen, Andrew Dean and Ken Dean with 2 yellowfin which totalled 115 lbs.

There is some great video of Neail beating up a bluefin, with what looks to be a fluke rod, on Lorenzetti's skimmeroutdoors.com site.  You put us young bucks to shame with your fine technique.

Thanks to Floyd, Khalid, Don Harrison, Ed Olsen, Will McNamee, Rich Froehlich and Bruce Dean on giviing their time to make it a great tournament.

Looks like we have to get 3 AHOY mugs this year.   Phil Heilpern, Mike Cuozzo and Kevin Froehlich had an 80 lb bluefin within minutes of reaching the Coimbra.  In their infinite wisdom they released it to "go get a bigger one."  We know how that works out.......    They also had two yellowfin which would have given them the High Hook award!!!  The day wasnt a total waste though,  the beers were ice cold at Frank and Dicks Tiki Hut from what I'm told.

Will McNamee will be giving us the rundown on the 3rd Annual Fluke Shootout which will be held Saturday August 7th.   We will be having a breakfast and shotgun start from Nicky's in Bayshore this year.  The weigh in this year will be held at Phil Heilpern's house on Willets Creek.    Come down tonight for more info.

Please come down to the John Sideris Junior Championship awards night next Tuesday Aug 3rd at 7:30 at Captain Bill's.  John's family will be present and we look forward to showing them how much we appreciate all that he did for our club.  Especially, our Junior anglers

Congrats to Pat Ryan on a 9 lb fluke caught near the Coast Guard Station!

Kevin Froehlich will be signing copies of todays Newsday.  Get it now before he starts charging.  Im also hearing Ed Olsen is putting out a bounty on Kevin for impeding on his turf!!
